When you think of the craft economy in Portland, Oregon, one of the genuinely remarkable pioneers is Smith Teamaker. Today we think of innovation as technology only. AI powered software, the next iPhone, and the 60-inch OLED screens at Costco it looks like you can walk through. The last thing you would think of is tea. Tea has been cultivated for nearly 5000 years. So, when we were first introduced to Smith Teamaker on 23rd Avenue in Portland, we were so excited. Every one of their teas was so flavorful and vibrant. Our team had grown up on Stumptown Coffee, and all the wonderful micro-roasters here in Portland. To fall in love with tea, many of us for the first time, was like a new door was being opened where we never knew one existed.

So, in 2019 when Primetrics was introduced to the accounting and finance team at Smith Teamaker, the pressure was on. Smith Teamaker had outgrown its current accounting and inventory systems and needed to start over. They wanted to leverage the power of the cloud and automate their back office. They had been planning the transition and wanted a partner that would work with them while they undertook this exciting project. They wanted a team that had deep accounting experience with manufacturing and craft consumer products and had real-life experience bringing modern cloud-based applications to similar business processes.
